The T-Strap is Still Roaring from the 20s

August 6, 2012

How many people think about the history of a shoe? The nerd in me does. I wanted to know where the T strap shoe came from that saved my outfits that need a pump. For the new readers I have skinny ankle problems that make walking in a pump a little difficult for me (this is like my shoe therapy but don’t bill me.) So the t-strap is a life saver. What started out in the 1920′s as a new elegant way to display more of the foot is now a staple in my closet.

Can’t you picture the Roaring 2o’s when women wore a long knee length dress, a single strand of pearls and t-straps? I can. I can visualize them shimming as their shoes are firmly secured by the infamous T-bar. Well, zooming over 80 years, the T-strap is still hanging by its straps and still elegantly holding on shoes. Is the T-strap a staple in your closet as well?
