Rebelling Against Neutrals

By  |  3 Comments

The new Summer look books are showing bright beautiful rich colors that bounce off the pages. Normally, this would make me happy and it does for the most part. The cliche statement April showers bring May flowers came to my mind. The only bad part about that statement is supposedly to get May flowers it obviously has to rain. Now how does this relate to the beautiful island-like colors that are gracing the stores? I’m glad you asked. In order to wear the bright color clothing usually you have to opt for a toned down shoe, which makes me sad. I want bright beautiful shoes to shine this season since some of us don’t get to wear those colors year round. So you know what I’m going to do? I’m going to celebrate the people who are rebelling with me. Check out Scarlett Johnannson, Jessica Alba and Nicole Ritchie, who were all recently rocking one of my favorites, orange shoes. Michelle Obama and Gwyneth Paltrow didn’t mind mixing it up with turquoise shoes and I love it! I hate to make this comment but this is just one of those things. Mrs. Obama’s dress with her shoes is too matchy matchy, which is one of the reasons that bright outfits are usually better paired with nude shoes. Colorblocking is an easy trick to get away with everything being bright if that’s the look you want but otherwise bright shoes are better suited as pops of color.

Here’s a few of my choices just in case you are still looking to add that pop of color to your shoe closet this season.
